This is the first convention of the year for me and always one I look forward to! This time the convention itself seemed a lot bigger with many more stands and merch stalls inside to browse through. If you couldn’t find what you’re after here, it probably doesn’t exist!

MCM always do a great job with the queueing and entry system into a convention and this was no different, security were all doing what they were meant to be and the whole weekend moved along like a well oiled machine.

I usually dont spend too much time in the convention halls themselves as I am often photographing and filming the cosplayers outside the halls, but I did find an hour on the Sunday morning to walk around and get a good look. There was a great section of the convention given to the Comic Village, where the indie comic writers can display their work as well as artists. I even stumbled across some guys who will be in the next print of Comichaus!

Whilst walking around and filming I got a shot of this great stall of soft toys, with a huge selection of everything, after I finished filming the lovely lady shouted me over and gave me a tiny Chewie soft toy to match my Chewie bag I was wearing, it wasn’t until afterwards I realised I never got their details so I can’t give them a proper thank you, so if that was you and you’re reading this, get in touch! The Cosplayers once again outdone themselves and turned up in bigger and better costumes than before, all the hard work that goes in to making these costumes is really visible and what better way to show them off than walking around in your own creation! The Star Wars cosplayers once again were a pleasure to see and they are always so good with guests and here you can see them having a great time with a very friendly little girl as she dragged her father over to shake all their hands.

So if you are a veteran convention goes or even if you’re reading this and thinking about giving one a go, I can not recommend MCM Birmingham enough, its a great friendly atmosphere with planty to see and do for all ages!
